South Fork Crow River Watershed Restoration & Protection Project

North Fork Crow River Watershed Restoration & Protection Project

The CROW, Buffalo Creek Watershed District, and the MPCA began the South Fork Major Watershed Restoration Project in the fall of 2011. The CROW held a meeting with local partners on Oct 19 to go over the process and another meeting on Nov 2nd to decide on partner roles/support and create the work plan. Work will begin after the contract is signed by MPCA and local partners in spring 2012.

This project will be completed in two phases. The first phase will include project planning, coordination, stream reconnaissance, and begin the effort towards civic engagement/outreach and focus towards the development of project teams, identifying stakeholders, developing an initial civic engagement strategic plan and conducting lake and stream monitoring. Phase II will consist of the TMDL load reductions, creating implementation and protection strategies, and building a civic engagement strategic plan with communities involved or interested in the watershed’s protection and restoration.
